What is Afterschool Village?

Afterschool Village is a family-centered after school community center based in Studio City, California.

Afterschool Village (AV) promotes a culture of sustainability that supports raising healthy children and their relationship with their community, their peers, their environment, and themselves.

AV promotes emotional, social and behavioral competence while fostering resilience, self-determination and self-efficacy.

I love Afterschool Village. Raduka and her team have transformed our lives for the better. As parents with full-time jobs, her program has allowed our children to participate in hands-on activities that engage their interests and abilities. I personally work in housing justice, so my job takes me all over the neighborhood at various times of the day. I’m able to provide community care services because of the support Afterschool Village provides for my family. Trusting someone with your children is difficult but that choice is made easier when programs like this one work to build community with parents like us.

This is so lovely. We just adore this girl and this experience has been so good for her this summer. The past year was super challenging and she really had such a warm, fun group of friends I know it’s meant a lot to her, and it’s really shown in her being more happy go lucky at home. It does my heart good.

Thank you for reaching out to tell us about your wonderful camp and providing a safe and happy place for our girls for half of the summer! They learned all about ecology and how to protect the environment. They met several new friends and socialized under the supervision of trained, caring counselors. When we went away for vacation in the middle of the summer, our daughters preferred to stay at home and go to camp, rather than visit a resort!

I strongly recommend this camp and after-school program to any families considering sending their children.  We look forward to sending our daughters back to Afterschool Village next year, as counselors-in-training and junior counselors.
