In this course you will learn basic strategy: how and why it is important to have control of the center. We will learn about pawn structure, including isolated and doubled pawns, pawn chains and attacking the base pawn, and how to promote your pawn to a queen.

We will examine king safety, piece mobility, where to place your pieces in the middle game. We will also study some famous games of Morphy, Fischer, Kasparov and the current world champion, Magnus Carlsen, to see how great players think.

And to recap for anything that intermediate players still need to learn from the beginner class, we will review all the basics checkmates, including the rook roller, and how to checkmate with a king and queen

This Class Has Ended, but you can stream previous classes below.

Homework
Find someone to play chess with, and then practice trying to checkmate them with the 4 move checkmate as shown in the video. Also, have them try and checkmate you, and you try to defend against it.
